About the Role
Denali is seeking a dependable Equipment Operator based in Perry, GA, who is willing to travel to project sites throughout Georgia and Alabama. Working under the direction of a Project Manager, this employee will support the cleaning of lagoons, digesters, basins, and other assigned structures or facilities.
This position combines the safe operation of heavy and agricultural equipment with hands-on manual labor. Equipment may include front-end loaders, skid steers, excavators/track hoes, and bulldozers.
Employees will work with biosolids—residual materials from wastewater treatment plants—and other organic materials. Candidates must be comfortable working in dirty conditions, around varying odors and materials, and outdoors in all types of weather.
This is a safety-sensitive position requiring alertness, sound judgment, and attention to the safety of yourself and others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safely operate assigned heavy and agricultural equipment according to company procedures and project requirements.
Support lagoon, digester, basin, and facility cleanup projects under the direction of the Project Manager.
Load, unload, move, and place biosolids and other materials in designated and approved areas.
Perform manual labor, including cleanup, material handling, and equipment and tool setup.
Conduct daily equipment inspections before and after operation.
Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication within the scope of training.
Promptly report equipment malfunctions, repair needs, unsafe conditions, spills, and incidents to management.
Maintain accurate equipment inspection, operation, and project records.
Keep equipment, tools, and work areas clean and organized.
Follow project instructions, environmental requirements, and site safety procedures.
Wear all required personal protective equipment.
Communicate effectively with the Project Manager, coworkers, and customers.
Travel between assigned project locations and work required overtime.
Adapt to changing project needs, schedules, and work locations.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent GED.
Valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record.
Willingness and ability to travel throughout Georgia and Alabama.
Availability to work approximately 50–70 hours per week, including required overtime.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to perform both equipment operation and physically demanding manual labor.
Willingness to work around biosolids, organic materials, and unpleasant odors.
Commitment to safe equipment operation and proper use of personal protective equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
At least two years of heavy equipment operating experience.
Experience operating front-end loaders, skid steers, excavators/track hoes, or bulldozers.
Class A CDL.
Dump truck and/or yard jockey experience.
Experience with wastewater treatment, biosolids handling, lagoon cleaning, or similar project work.
Basic mechanical knowledge and equipment maintenance skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, sun, snow, and other changing weather conditions.
Work around dirt, mud, water, biosolids, and other organic materials.
Be comfortable with strong or unpleasant odors and loud equipment.
Regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, balance, and reach.
Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Climb on and off equipment and work on uneven or wet surfaces.
Work near moving machinery, vehicles, and other jobsite hazards.
Perform assigned confined-space work only with required training, authorization, and safety procedures.
Wear required personal protective equipment throughout assigned tasks.
