Position Overview
The Field Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional execution of water treatment projects and field service activities. This hands-on leadership role supervises field crews and coordinates the installation, mobilization, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and demobilization of temporary and permanent water treatment systems. The position requires strong mechanical and construction experience, effective crew leadership, sound administrative skills, and the ability to communicate professionally with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations and Crew Leadership
- Direct daily field activities and keep employees and subcontractors focused on assigned work, safety requirements, quality standards, and project schedules.
- Supervise the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, mobilization, and demobilization of water treatment systems.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, tools, subcontractors, and site logistics for assigned work.
- Review work plans, drawings, process flow diagrams, proposals, and project requirements before field execution.
- Conduct site assessments and identify access, utility, safety, equipment, staffing, and material requirements.
- Maintain clear daily communication with project management regarding progress, constraints, labor usage, equipment status, and customer issues.
Water Treatment and Mechanical Systems
- Oversee and assist with pumps, filtration systems, tanks, vessels, piping, valves, hoses, instrumentation, and chemical treatment equipment.
- Direct the fabrication, assembly, installation, repair, and modification of PVC, HDPE, steel, and other piping systems applicable to company work.
- Diagnose mechanical and operational problems and coordinate timely repairs or corrective action.
- Monitor system performance and confirm that equipment operates within established project and treatment requirements.
Safety and Quality
- Lead pre-task planning, daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses, equipment inspections, and site-specific safety orientation.
- Enforce company safety policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Exercise stop-work authority whenever unsafe conditions exist.
- Confirm that completed installations and field activities meet project drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and company standards.
- Report incidents, near misses, equipment damage, environmental concerns, and nonconforming work promptly.
Materials, Equipment, and Warehouse Coordination
- Coordinate the staging, green-tagging, inspection, pulling, loading, and return of equipment, tools, and consumable materials.
- Verify that crews have the proper equipment and materials before mobilization.
- Track field assets, equipment condition, consumable usage, and material shortages.
- Coordinate equipment repair, replacement, calibration, and preventive maintenance as required.
Documentation, Cost Control, and Customer Coordination
- Complete daily field reports, labor and equipment records, inspection forms, maintenance logs, incident documentation, and customer-required reports.
- Review employee time, cost codes, equipment usage, receipts, and other field documentation for accuracy.
- Assist with estimating labor, equipment, materials, travel, and subcontractor requirements.
- Monitor field costs and notify project management of potential budget or schedule impacts.
- Document changed field conditions and provide supporting information for potential change orders.
- Serve as the primary onsite company representative when assigned and communicate professionally with customers, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Escalate commercial, contractual, technical, safety, or customer issues to the appropriate manager. Do not commit the company to additional scope, cost, or schedule changes without authorization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five or more years of relevant construction, environmental remediation, industrial mechanical, field service, or water treatment experience.
- Prior experience leading field crews or coordinating daily jobsite activities.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Experience working with pumps, piping, valves, filtration equipment, tanks, or similar process equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, process flow diagrams, equipment manuals, proposals, and basic construction drawings.
- Ability to prepare accurate field documentation and use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to travel on short notice and work extended hours, nights, weekends, or emergency assignments when project conditions require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with temporary or permanent industrial water treatment systems.
- Experience with environmental remediation, dewatering, groundwater treatment, or construction water management.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction, HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, or other relevant safety certifications.
- Technical degree, trade certification, or equivalent specialized training.
- Experience estimating labor, equipment, and material requirements.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This position regularly works at construction, industrial, environmental, and water treatment sites. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather, uneven terrain, noise, dust, mud, moving equipment, chemicals, and other field conditions. The position requires standing and walking for extended periods, climbing ladders or stairs, bending, kneeling, reaching, and using hand and power tools. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation, Benefits, and Company Resources
- Hourly pay range of $35.00 to $40.00. Actual starting pay will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, certifications, and job-related skills.

The Field Supervisor is expected to lead by example, enforce applicable safety requirements, conduct required field safety activities, correct unsafe conditions, and exercise stop-work authority when work may endanger employees, customers, the public, the environment, or equipment.
