About the Role

Job Description

Why join us?

AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest engineering and project delivery organizations, delivering some of the country's most critical energy, transportation, infrastructure, and industrial projects. Our teams combine technical excellence with world-class project delivery capabilities to help clients successfully plan, design, and execute complex capital projects and programs.

Join our team and help deliver meaningful, high-impact energy infrastructure projects with one of Canada’s leading engineering and project delivery firms.

As a Senior Project Manager - T&D reporting to a Projects Director, you will play a key leadership role in the successful delivery of large-scale transmission, substation, and distribution projects for major Canadian utility clients. This position offers a unique blend of project leadership, client engagement, market development, and multidisciplinary team coordination.

You will be responsible for integrating diverse technical teams, project controls, construction partners, suppliers, and key client stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes. This role provides the opportunity to contribute to some of Canada’s most significant utility infrastructure projects while building trusted client relationships, mentoring project teams, and supporting the continued growth of AtkinsRéalis’ Power Project Delivery business.

How will you contribute to the team?

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Managing the successful delivery of multiple projects of varying size and complexity within the utilities sector.
  • Defining project objectives, procedures, and performance standards in compliance with AtkinsRéalis and client processes and proactively managing both the technical and financial aspects of project delivery.
  • Providing leadership, direction, and oversight to multidisciplinary project teams across all phases—from initiation and planning to construction and close‑out.
  • Driving overall project performance, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change management, while ensuring compliance with quality and safety expectations.
  • Coordinating multi-disciplinary internal teams (engineering, quality, safety, commercial, etc.), subcontractors, and partners (internal/external) to meet delivery objectives.
  • Leading project cost and schedule development, including monthly progress tracking and forecasting activities and preparation of internal and client-facing reporting.
  • Supporting contract administration, proposal development, estimate creation and procurement activities related to services and materials.
  • Building and nurturing collaborative relationships with clients and key stakeholders, serving as a primary client contact where required.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil or a related Engineering discipline. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada, or eligibility for registration with the applicable provincial engineering regulatory body, is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience leading the delivery of utility, transmission, substation, distribution, energy, or other large infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary engineering and project delivery teams on complex capital infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of transmission, substation, and power system infrastructure projects, including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning interfaces.
  • Proven ability to manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and technical interfaces while delivering successful client outcomes.
  • Experience coordinating utility clients, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and other key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting project controls, forecasting, contract administration, procurement, and change management activities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills, with the ability to build high-performing teams and trusted client partnerships.
